Dr. James Purnell is an Assistant Professor with Northern Medical Services through the University of Saskatchewan providing clinical services to Northern Saskatchewan communities and investigating ways to enhance care using remote presence technology. At home in Saskatoon he does a multidisciplinary pediatric clinic monthly as well as in house coverage for internal medicine and obstetrics. He also does locums throughout Saskatchewan and the Yukon Territory.

Using remote presence technology and other technologies to enhance care delivery in rural, remote and under-serviced populations. It is important to recognize that the patient and the community come first and the technology facilitates the interaction and helps to eliminate the tyranny of distance.
Dr Purnell is pioneering a new model of care combining both remote telehealth clinics and outreach clinics.

Dr Purnell does a monthly clinic with a multidisciplinary team for children presenting with acute onset of OCD, tics and food restriction with a focus on PANDAS/PANS diagnosis, assessment and treatment.
